A Charcoal Roof and a Protected Solar Array: Ramiro’s Home in South Austin

Ramiro’s home in the Parkside area off Menchaca combines two things that scare off average crews: a large multi-plane roof and a full solar array. Neither is a problem when the crew knows what it’s doing.

How the project went

Full inspection and a written scope first. Then the crew detached the existing solar panels and protected them through the build while the old roof came off down to the deck.

The replacement went on in a sharp charcoal architectural shingle, a color that reads modern without fighting the house. Panels reset, mounts resealed, and the covered deck below left spotless.

The outcome: a charcoal roof under a working solar array. One crew, one project, no finger-pointing between trades.

Why hail damage can’t wait

Hail knocks the protective granules off your shingles. It’s nearly invisible from the ground, but every bruise is a bare spot where Texas sun breaks down the asphalt underneath. The roof ages years in months, and most policies give you a limited window to file after a storm.
